Choose Clarity. Choose Safety. Choose PriPlus.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has begun investigating several national driving-school booking platforms over concerns that customers may be misled by unclear online pricing and hidden fees. The investigation focuses on whether the price displayed at the start is the same price charged at checkout, or whether extra fees are added late in the booking process.
For learner drivers and parents, this is an important moment — not just financially, but for safety and trust within the industry.
Why Hidden Fees Are a Problem for Learners
Many fast-pass driving courses advertise attractive headline prices such as “£1,200 — pass in a week!”
However, the real cost can increase rapidly once:
- Admin or booking fees are added
- Instructor allocation charges appear
- Test-slot priority fees are added
This creates stress, pressure and confusion for learners who expect simplicity and fairness.
